HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

POWDER POWDER EVERYWHERE !!!

We have had the most snow in 50 years according to the locals, infact record amounts. Its just kept coming , topping up on a weekly basis which is just what we need. Conditions are superb and pistes are in the best condition we have ever skied them.

We have only been over to Italy a couple of times this year due to bad weather and heavy snow hampering the opening of the link to La Thuile. However the 2 times we have been have been excellent with the obligatory pizza at our favourite restaurant and hot chocolate at Off Shore and say hello to Roberto.

We skied down from Sainte Foy Station to Sainte Foy Chief Lieu (Le Monal Hotel) the other day, first tracks in powder over our knees it was amazing! There are a couple of photos below.

Snow clearing has been an epic this year and yesterday Jonny actually climbed on the roof to shovel some snow off. With over 2 metres of snow up there, he had to take his saw to cut it off.The girls have been jumping off the roof of the wood store its been that deep, see photos below.

The road is more like a tunnel, but despite it all we have never been snown in, the commune has done an amazing job of keeping the roads ploughed and open. We have been able to ski everyday, looking for the best area, ie tree line, sheltered etc when other Resorts have been totally closed. Thats the nice thing about having a car and skiing different areas, it gives you  the ability to ski whatever the conditions.

We have had a run of lovely guests during the last few weeks, new friends have been made. The Exall boys provided us with lots of laughs, and great days skiing. Our first ever customer we had 7 years ago  in the chalet returned for his 5th time 2 weeks ago, thankyou Kevin again.

All in all having a great season and looking forward to it continuing !

We have had even more snow, so much that the torch lit descent and fireworks on New Years Eve got cancelled. That was a real shame as its a highlight of the festivities. However safety comes first and we realised it was the right decision. We had over a metre a half in our Village within 48 hours. Up above 2000m they had over 2m. Conditions for the holidays have been fabulous.

We had a great New Years Eve and skied the next day with sunshine. Its a record amount of snow here in the Tarentaise Valley for this time of year. The powder days have been frequent , although we have not seen much sun.

Snow clearing has been a daily event and the snow ploughs out every day too.

The link to Italy from La Rosiere has opened for the first time today and during the past week Val and Tignes have been on LOCK DOWN , with the road up to Val actually closing one day.

The girls are back to school now and we are settling back into a routine. Fi is skiing with the school every afternoon this week so we are helping with that.

Here are a few pics from the last 2 weeks.

Well we have had the best start to the season in a lot of years, probably 14 actually. We had not very much snow at all in the Village until Dec 7th 2011, but still skied in Val D'Isere and Tignes which is a short drive away. Then on the 7th it came, and kept coming, resulting in about a metre in 36 hours. This has given us a great base. Then throught the past 2 weeks its snown on and off, along with the odd bluebird day (blue skies and sun) making conditions amazing. The pistes are Superb , no ice in sight , and the Powder has been light due to cold temperatures at night.

Today it started snowing at 4am this morning and has forecasted nearly another metre for this week. We still have availability in January and have discounted our prices so its the perfect time to come.

We have had a fabulous Xmas with The Hancocks and the Thackrays, 2nd year with us at Xmas time and it couldn't have been better, thanks guys. New year is now upon us and we are looking forward to hopefully skiing the torchlit descent this year, and then the firework display in the Villaroger, which is the best in the Valley.

We are off to ski more powder again in Villaroger with lunch at La Ferme more than likely.

Sainte Foy still has the 16 euros day pass offer on for skiing Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday with production of the Super U voucher from the supermarket, so thats the bargain of the season again.

Happy New Year to you all and will post some photos soon!
